Message from CEO - David Paul Achneepineskum

I am delighted to announce the launch of the new and improved Matawa First Nations website.   This website is reflective of the new directions that have been occurring across the Matawa First Nations and that will continue to occur in 2008.

With the support of our leadership, Matawa First Nations has focused on going back into our communities as an organization over the past two years. Our goal has been to consult with our membership, listen to the voices of people of all ages and develop new strategic directions based on putting communities first.

Our new directions as an organization recognize the great wealth of talent, expertise and knowledge held within the Matawa First Nations and we are constantly seeking new and innovative ways to put those skills and knowledge resources to work for the common benefit of all Matawa First Nations.

Based on feedback from our community members, the need was identified to enhance our communications strategies and encourage improved information sharing in all directions across the Matawa First Nations. What came out of the process was a vision to provide accurate information and communications resources to the Matawa First Nations, thereby empowering strong, knowledgeable and self-sufficient people within communities.

The new Matawa First Nations website is part of our new communications plan to develop and implement a communications framework that delivers valuable information directly to the membership of all 10 Matawa First Nations. It is intended to be a living tool that is interactive and constantly updated. We hope that it provides you with the resources you need but most importantly, we hope that you will use this website to tell us your news and share with us what is important to you.
