Dr. Elizabeth Erasmus, M.D.
Dr. Erasmus is of Cree descent. She was raised in Nakina , Ontario until she was 11 years old, at which time her mother, who is a single parent, took her younger brother and her to Edmonton where she then went back to school and became a registered nurse. In Edmonton, Dr. Elizabeth Erasmus completed her education. She graduated from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1992 and then she went on to complete her Doctorate of Medicine in 1997. She completed her Family Medicine training, which is a two year program, in 1999.
Since then, she has worked in a downtown Urgent Care clinic in Calgary, as well as several aboriginal communities outside of Calgary. For two years, she had the privilege to move with her family and work in Moose Factory Ontario. At present, she is back in Calgary and continues to work at the Urgent Care centre. She also works at the Elbow River Healing Lodge, a centre that serves aboriginal patients and their families. Dr. Elizabeth Erasmus has been married to Francis for 10 years now and they have three children - Joshua (8), Tanis (5), and Jordan (2).
