Matawa Non-Profit Housing Corporation
Matawa Non-Profit Housing Corporation provides social housing in the city of Thunder Bay. It holds 36 rental units scattered throughout the city. The units are available to eligible families with low or modest incomes. The Corporations’ Property Manager is responsible for tenant liaison and the maintenance of the physical property. Matawa Finance & Administration manages the financial and regulatory affairs of the Corporation.
For information about, or to apply for social housing, not only with Matawa, but also a number of other housing providers in Thunder Bay, you must contact/apply to the Thunder Bay District Social Services Administration Board (TBDSSAB) as they provide the funding subsidies for our rent-geared-to-income housing units.
Please note that Matawa cannot directly accept and process your application and you are encouraged to call the Central Housing Registry (766-2111) prior to submitting your application to ensure it is complete. The Central Housing Registry places eligible applicants on a wait-list that is used by Matawa and other social housing providers as units become vacant.
