MATAWA EDUCATION AND CARE CENTRE HOST 2024 GRADUATION

Thunder Bay – The Matawa Education and Care Centre (MECC) will be hosting a graduation ceremony for the Class of 2024. This event will celebrate the achievements of 16 graduates from the Matawa First Nations Communities.

The ceremony will include a luncheon, procession, opening remarks, convocation, and the presentation of awards for students who have successfully obtained their Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

We have invited the families of graduates, MECC partners, representatives, and other dignitaries to join us for this special occasion. Drew Okeese and Wabigwanii Goodwin will serve as the valedictorians for the MECC’s 2024 graduating class, and Head Teacher Samantha Renaud will act as the Master of Ceremonies.

The Jordan Wabasse Memorial Awards will also be presented during the event. In addition, MECC Elders, dignitaries, Principal Brad Battiston and Vice-Principal Jacqueline Carrier will be on hand to provide comments along with Sharon Nate, Executive Director of Matawa Education.
