MATAWA EDUCATION HOSTS 17TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN ADVANCE OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY
THUNDER BAY, ON: Matawa Education will host the 17th annual Matawa Education Conference from March 5 to 7 at the Valhalla Inn Hotel in the traditional territory of Fort William First Nation. The theme is: Courage and Resilience: A Pathway Forward – Zoongide’enh (Courage), Achi Zagoochtooyin (and Resilience), Azhi Bimoseyin (A Pathway Forward).
Professional learning and networking opportunities will be provided for remote First Nations elementary and secondary educators and administrative staff. This year, in recognition of International Women’s Day, prominent women who have made significant strides in various fields including education, business, advocacy and community development will be highlighted. Adrianna Douglas-Bear will be providing the keynote on March 6, 2024, and Ellen Gabriel will be providing the keynote on March 7, 2024.
