MATAWA FIRST NATIONS MANAGEMENT TO LAUNCH ‘NEW BEGINNINGS’ DIRECTORY TO SUPPORT FORMERLY ENCARCERATED

THUNDER BAY, ON – On March 27, 2024, Matawa First Nation Management (MFNM) CEO David Paul Achneepineskum will be joined by representatives of 211 North and the Indigenous Primary Health Care Council (IPHCC) to launch the New Beginnings directory, designed to help people leaving correctional facilities in the Thunder Bay area access supports and services needed for successful reintegration.

Designed in partnership with 211 North, the IPHCC, and Birchwood Consulting, the directory provides the latest information across 12 categories of service identified during meetings and focus groups as crucial supports for people leaving incarceration.

MFNM CEO David Paul will be joined by officials from the IPHCC including Curtis Hildebrandt, Senior Advisor Health Systems Strategy, Larry Spence, Stakeholder Engagement Specialist, and, Sara Illy, Program Coordinator, Health Systems Transformation. 211 North’s Director of Service Marie Klassen, and Kristen Tomcko, Manager of Community Information will also be present.
