MATAWA FIRST NATIONS TO ANNOUNCE THEY ARE ‘FORGING A NEW PATH FORWARD’ ON COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE AT PROSPECTORS & DEVELOPERS ASSOCIATION OF CANADA’S 2020 CONVENTION

TORONTO, ON: Matawa First Nations Chiefs Council will be hosting a news conference at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada’s (PDAC) international convention, trade show and investor’s exchange. Matawa First Nations Management is also an exhibitor in the Trade Show at booth number 748 (South Building).

Chiefs from Matawa First Nations will be on hand to provide comments on creating a New Way Forward in developing community infrastructure within their traditional territories by exploring an innovative approach to financing and managing construction needs. This approach, currently being developed, focuses on community-based infrastructure priorities. They will be joined by companies to-date, Enterprise Canada, Enterprise Capital Corporation and PCL Construction, amongst others. Chiefs will also be able to provide comments on the work they’ve undergone this past year and plans for the future.

The announcement aligns with the Indigenous Affairs priority of PDAC 2020 and provides an Indigenous lens on issues related to access to capital and access to land.

Members of the media and other potential partners are cordially invited to attend.

Date: Monday, March 2, 2020
Location: Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Room 701AB (South Building)
Time: 4:20 p.m. (to follow Matawa PDAC panel presentation)
