MATAWA EDUCATION AND CARE CENTRE CELEBRATES THE LAUNCH OF THEIR CHARITY – MFNEA…ACHIEVING THE DREAM AND NEW BRANDING, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 26th!

THUNDER BAY, ON: The Matawa Education and Care Centre (MECC) will be hosting a celebration of the launch of their charity Matawa First Nation Education Authority (MFNEA)…Achieving the Dream and a new Education Brand June 26, 2019 at 1:30 PM at their location at 200 Lillie Street North.

The Matawa Education and Care Centre staff and students are excited to have their own Charity to help support them in Achieving their Dream. “It is an opportunity for Philanthropists, Foundations and Local Businesses to invest in our youth’s future. Gifts to the Charity will receive tax receipts and recognition and donors can make a contribution to a number of funds and projects including bursaries, cultural programs, emergency clothing, outdoor recreation and more” said Sharon Nate, Education Manager. Donors are invited to go to our new Web site MFNEA.ca and find out how they can make a difference and support the over 150 youth who are expected to arrive in September at the Matawa Education and Care Centre for school or donate to the Matawa Community education youth initiatives.

Matawa Education and Care Centre has also rebranded. With the creation of the new facility at Grandview Lodge at 200 Lillie Street North and the Charity the brand will encompass all 4 Matawa Education Divisions. There is a new Web site making it easy to give to the charity and find out what is going on at the school and in the communities! In the fall students will return to sport some new gear with the beautiful unique brand.

Welcome by our Elder – Opening Drum – Importance of MFNEA charity to the students and our communities David Paul Achneepineskum, CEO of Matawa – Upcoming projects donors can help with , Brad Battiston Principle, Matawa Education and Care Centre – Importance of supporting our youth our legacy Donors Matawa, David Paul Achneepineskum, CEO of Matawa ,Michael Larizza, CEO RFL Properties and Steve Larizza, CEO Renco who will sponsor the students’ hockey and ice rink , Bonnie Moore for the Meredith Karam Family Fund who created 3 bursaries for MECC grads going into post-secondary- How much this means to the school and students going forward – Matawa Education Manager Sharon Nate – Closing Drum and Blessing.
